Preventative Tree Removals To Follow Eucalyptus Collapse
As many owners are already aware, we had a eucalyptus collapse on top of a carport on the morning of May 5th. While this was obviously a frustrating and scary event for the community, and especially for the owner whose vehicle was trapped crushed under the carport, it’s important to recognize how lucky we got. The tree fell away from the buildings and nobody was hurt. Further, damage to association and member property was minimal overall. Despite the Association’s best efforts to prevent these events, including annual tree trimmings and inspections, this event was a chilling reminder that accidents can happen despite best efforts.
To further prevent any additional problems that may occur the board has contracted with Western Tree Service to remove 2 eucalyptus trees near building 7982 (where the last tree fell), two eucalyptus trees near 7930, one ash by 7934, and one ornamental pear by 7976. Following removal the board will work with the landscape committee and the landscape contractor to select, purchase, and install replacement trees, bushes, or shrubs that will not present a future hazard to the community.
